Cuban Night at Trabue Restaurant

Trabue Restaurant hosted the Afterglow party for the Peace River Film Festival. It was Cuban night at the Restaurant so some wonderful Cuban musicians were present to entertain the festival crowd. The food and drink was also great.

On Friday night, Sept 9th, Michael Uslan received a life time achievement award from the Peace River Film Festival. He presented a wonderful speech about his struggle to get the first Batman movie made.

Since 1981, the Black Maria Film + Video Festival, an international juried competition and award tour, has been exhibiting and rewarding cutting edge works from independent film and video makers. More than 600 short films are screened each year. From the 70 selected for the Festival, we will be viewing 10 of the best.

Year One

The 2011 Peace River Film Festival celebrates its inaugural year with a focus on short films and videos. We’ll kick off the festival Friday, Sept. 9 by awarding a Lifetime Achievement Award to Michael Uslan, creator and Executive Producer of the BATMAN film franchise, as well as and numerous other film projects. This will be followed by the world’s first Flash Mob Video competition! See our web site www.peaceriverfilmfestival.org for details. The second day program will be selections from the Black Maria Film Festival. The third day program will feature Florida shorts in a Youth and Open Division. This will be followed in the evening by a program of Open Shorts. 


The 2011 Peace River Film Festival Presenting Sponsor is the Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda, Fl. The Producting Sponsor for the 2011 Festival is Palm Automotive, Buick GMC. Other sponsors include SUN Newspapers, Harbor Style Magazine, Charlotte Community Foundation, Regal Entertainment Group, Edison State College(Charlotte Campus) and Wyvern Hotel.
