2012 Peace River
Film Festival
On
Thursday, September 20th the search lights will again be lighting up
the skies above Charlotte County at the Gala kickoff of the Peace River Film
Festival. The first night festival event will include a screening of the winner
of the Feature Films category at the Charlotte County Event Center followed by a rocking Hollywood
Party.
On
Friday, September 21st at the Charlotte Campus of Edison College,
the festival will screen films from the Open Shorts Category. Last year’s
winner in this category was nominated for an Academy Award.
Saturday,
September 22nd
at Edison College will bring us Student Films selections in the afternoon and a
Feature Film double-feature in the evening. The Student Films are defined as
short films, less than 30 minutes in length, produced by students in elementary
school, high school or college.
Sunday,
September 23rd
offerings will include our Cell Shot Category in the afternoon and Florida
Shorts in the Evening. The Cell Shot category, new this year, is for films
entirely shot with a cell phone.
This
year’s festival includes panel discussions and workshops for film makers. An
important component of this festival is directed toward the development of film
making skills for youth, amateur and professional film makers.
The
inaugural year of the Peace River Film Festival was a huge success with hundreds
of people in attendance including Michael Uslan, the Executive Producer of the
Batman movies. A documentary on the 2011
festival is accessible on our web site at
peaceriverfilmfestival.org. This is where you can obtain event tickets
and sign-up to submit a film to the festival.
