Before the Worst (9:42) WORLD PREMIERE DOCUMENTARY


This short documentary dares to ask if anyone can ever truly be prepared for death, and explores on one young man's search for the answer as his grandmother lives out her final days.

DIRECTOR BIO
Matthew Keibler was born in Port St. Lucie, Florida, but moved to Charlotte County when he was 10 years old. He is a senior at Charlotte High School and aspires to study film in college and have a professional career in the film industry. He is very involved in school, holding office in both the Interact Club and National Honor Society. He has a supportive family behind him and finds much inspiration from his brother, Nathan.



Ugly (12:00) WORLD PREMIERE DOCUMENTARY


This short documentary follows Colton Clements, a young man who goes on a journey to discover the emotional and psychological effects that the media and advertising have over women.  He sets out to discover why the media pushes an image of the “perfect” woman, and what effect this image has on the mindsets of women who are exposed to it. On his journey he meets and interviews a modeling consultant, an anorexia survivor, a therapist, and “America's Next Top Model'” Cycle Ten winner, the plus-sized model Whitney Thompson.

DIRECTOR BIO
Colton Clements directed this film in 2011 while a senior at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville. He is now studying film at Florida State University.




Sudden Death (18:09) DOCUMENTARY
On February 27, 2009, the Fletcher High School Lacrosse Program in Jacksonville, Florida, experienced Sudden Cardiac Arrest firsthand when goalie James Hendrick suffered commotio cordis after blunt force trauma to the chest. This short documentary relates the narrative accounts of the people associated with James, and those who have made it their mission to bring Automated External Defibrillator awareness to public schools in the state of Florida and nationwide.

DIRECTOR BIO
Abbey Knisely graduated from Douglas Anderson’s School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida, where she majored in Cinematic Arts. Throughout her four years of high school, Abbey explored several genres of film including narrative storytelling, experimental art, and the documentary.  In her junior year Abbey produced the documentary INUNDATION, a film that explored the art of surfboard shaping in a global economy. The film has been viewed in film festivals throughout the United States, as well as South Africa and Costa Rica. As a senior, Abbey directed the documentary SUDDEN DEATH, a film that brings awareness to the issue concerning the lack of Automated External Defibrillators in the American public school system.  Abbey is currently continuing her education at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

This film has been entered into various festivals, including DOCUTAH and the Chicago Short Film Festival.

Journey into the lives of Jax Beach's tight-knit surfboard shaping community and meet the faces behind the respirators as they eke out a living doing what they love - shaping custom surfboards.
DIRECTOR BIO
Chase Finn directed the film in 2009 while a senior at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville. He is now studying at Emerson College in Boston.

Scarlet's Witch (16:00) WORLD PREMIERE DOCUMENTARY
A modern day fairy tale about a lonely little girl who meets and befriends a nice witch in the woods, but doesn't learn of the witch's true intentions until many years later.  
DIRECTOR BIO
F.C. Rabbath is an award winning filmmaker currently based in Florida.  He grew up in the Middle East and moved to the United States at the age of 16.  He taught himself how to write, direct, shoot and edit films, and at the age of 22 has already created over 100 short films.  He won the 48 Hour Tallahassee Film Festival competition in 2008.
